Thomas Stephens

Thomas Stephens currently serves as the Technical Director (Water Quality) at Pattle Delamore Partners since January 2024, where responsibilities include directing technical services related to water quality policy and management. Prior to this role, Thomas has held significant positions at Auckland Council as both Principal - Integrated Catchment and Senior Freshwater Specialist, emphasizing the integration of science and policy to enhance water quality for the community. Thomas' earlier experience includes serving as Senior Water Quality Specialist at DairyNZ, where analysis aimed at reducing the environmental impact of dairy farming was key. Educational background includes a PhD in Geography from The University of Auckland, an MSc in Freshwater and Coastal Science from University College London, and a BSc in Geography, also from UCL. Thomas's academic research focused on climate change impacts in New Zealand's freshwater ecosystems, complemented by postdoctoral work in diatom transfer functions in Florida.
