Irum Aftab's work experience begins in 1994 as a Sales and Marketing Executive for Citibank N.A. in the Credit Cards Division. They then worked as a Management Trainee in Investment Banking for NatWest in 1997. From 1999 to 2005, Irum worked at State Street as a Senior Credit Analyst and Risk Specialist in Enterprise Risk Management. In 2007, they co-founded Naya Jeevan, a social enterprise focused on providing affordable healthcare access to low-income families. They served as the Chief Operating Officer until 2012. From 2012 to 2015, Irum was an Independent Consultant, working on outcomes research and micro health insurance models. They then joined PayActiv in 2015 as Director of Impact and Analytics, conducting user research and analyzing product usage. In 2017, they joined the Motwani Jadeja Foundation as Program Director for Ecosystem Development. In 2019, they became the Regional Executive Director at Wedu. Irum returned to PayActiv in 2020 as Senior Director of Impact and User Growth.
Irum Aftab completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Statistics and Economics from the University of the Punjab in 1994. Irum then pursued an MBA in General Management and Finance from the Lahore University of Management Sciences, graduating in 1998. In 2005, they became a CFA Level 2 candidate after studying Investment Management at the CFA Institute. Additionally, they attended the Stanford University Graduate School of Business in 2010 to complete an Executive Program in Social Entrepreneurship, emphasizing leadership skills. Prior to their higher education, Irum Aftab attended Berkeley High School from 1988 to 1991.
