Paul Furey has extensive work experience in the field of User Experience (UX) and Product Design. Paul currently holds the position of Principal Product Designer at Paycor, where they started in November 2021. Prior to that, they worked as the Lead Product Designer at Embark Veterinary from June 2021 to October 2021. From March 2020 to June 2021, Paul worked as a User Experience Lead at Aquent.
Earlier in their career, Paul held the role of User Experience Manager at McGraw-Hill Education from April 2015 to March 2020. In this role, they led UX work across multiple international product teams, designing responsive web and native apps for adaptive learning products, eCommerce, and software tools. Paul also led discovery, research, workshops, and usability testing, while delivering flows, wireframes, and final designs.
Before joining McGraw-Hill Education, Paul worked as a Senior UX Designer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from March 2014 to April 2015. At MIT, they led UX design for web, software applications, and multi-touch display projects, conducting research, ideation workshops, user testing, and creating polished visual designs and UI pattern libraries.
Prior to their time at MIT, Paul worked as the Creative Director and Lead UX at The MITRE Corporation from August 2001 to January 2014. In this role, they provided creative oversight, project management, and design for strategic internal and external communication channels. Paul also managed and developed a creative staff, redesigned the corporate website, managed all creative for the corporate brand, and oversaw the development and growth of multimedia capabilities.
Paul began their career as a Senior UX Designer at Barrett Communications, where they worked from 1999 to 2001. In this role, they focused on UX, visual design, and animation for digital/interactive projects. Paul collaborated with other creatives on multi-channel communication campaigns for clients in the Bio-tech, Education, and Tech sectors, while also providing support for new business development and participating in client meetings and creative presentations.
