George E. Marsh, Jr.

Since joining the firm in 1980, George has explored architecture in diverse complex typologies in historic, significant settings, ultimately creating humanist and contemporary environments. He has led planning beyond healthcare and research building typologies and created wonderful places for people.

George’s intention is to contribute great new campus places for each setting he works in. He believes that campus planning combined with intense architectural programs can maximize the benefits of each site. For George, each solution must be of the spirit of its own place, so that the architecture is unique to the client but also builds upon the values of Payette’s work history.

After graduating from Carnegie Mellon University in 1979, George’s ambition in all of his work became to make a significant contribution to each client and their place so that their building is their building, not the building of an architect. George’s passion is creating contemporary architecture that balances architectural history with the technology of the future. His practice has been on the national and international forefront of pushing highly technical buildings to make great campus environments.
