Maria Jose Barbero

Maria Jose Barbero is an experienced policy professional with a strong background in financial regulation and consumer credit. Currently serving as Senior Manager for Policy at the Payment Systems Regulator since April 2022, Maria has held multiple senior management positions at the Financial Conduct Authority from April 2013 to April 2022, focusing on areas such as consumer credit, competition, pension accumulation, and early intervention. Previous experience includes roles at the Financial Services Authority and HM Treasury, where Maria contributed as an Economic Advisor and managed teams related to general insurance policy and financial regulation economics.
