John Kim

Chief Product Officer & EVP at PayPal

As Executive Vice President, Chief Product Officer, John Kim leads the consumer and merchant product and engineering teams working to advance PayPal's position as a leader in digital payments and commerce for consumers and merchants around the globe.

John brings a wealth of product management and technical experience to PayPal. Prior to joining PayPal, John served as President of Expedia Marketplace. In that role, he oversaw strategy, product, technology, and operations for all of Expedia Group's business lines – including lodging, air, car, cruise and activities – bringing Expedia Group's products to life for its customers and suppliers. Previously, John served as President of Platform & Marketplaces at Expedia Group where he led the development of artificial intelligence, user experience, research, ecommerce, marketplaces and yield management, data and development platforms across Expedia Group's customers, partners and employees.

Previously in his career, John served as President of HomeAway/Vrbo after it was acquired by Expedia Group in 2015, and then as President of Vrbo. At Vrbo, John led strategy and operations and drove the company's transformation from a subscription-based advertising model to a modern e-commerce business powered by data science and technology. Before Vrbo, Kim served as Expedia's Chief Product Officer. He has more than two decades of digital experience across venture-backed startups, medium-sized companies and globally known brands including Yahoo!, Overture, Accenture, Bank of America and Pelago.

John is a vocal advocate for diversity and was appointed to advise President George W. Bush on economic policies impacting Asian Americans and Pacific Islander small businesses.

John earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor's degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
