Desmond Tonkin

Desmond Tonkin has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Desmond began their career in 2000 at PB Tech, where they worked as a Computer Salesperson and Website Developer. During their time there, they gained valuable experience in various tasks such as building computers, selling products, delivering goods, writing pricelists, and managing the company's website. In 2004, Desmond worked as a Web Consultant and Developer at Jaesign, where they provided freelance website consultation and development services. Desmond focused on bringing businesses into the digital world by creating customized online systems. In 2010, Desmond returned to PB Tech, this time as an IS Manager. As the Head of Software Development and Systems Support, they played a crucial role in building the company's website and Windows-based ERP system from scratch. Desmond also led change management initiatives for implementing these systems within the business. In 2016, Desmond was promoted to the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO) at PB Technologies Ltd. As the CIO, they became responsible for leading the company's IS and IT strategy, driving software development, managing core business systems and website, and providing data leadership and cybersecurity expertise.

Desmond Tonkin pursued their Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular & Molecular Biology, Plant Sciences, and Bioinformatics from 2007 to 2009 at The University of Auckland.
