Holden Thorp is the current director at PBS. Holden has also served as the chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and as a consultant and co-founder for Viamet Pharmaceuticals. Prior to their work in the pharmaceutical industry, Thorp was a venture capitalist with Hatteras Venture Partners and a professor of chemistry at Washington University in St. Louis. Holden began their career as a journalist, working as an editor for Science Magazine.
Holden Thorp received a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry from Caltech and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
