Edward W. Felten

Edward W. Felten is a Board Member of the Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board. He is also the Robert E. Kahn Professor of Computer Science and Public Affairs at Princeton University, and the Director of Princeton’s Center for Information Technology Policy. He previously served as Deputy United States Chief Technology Officer at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and as Chief Technologist at the Federal Trade Commission. Felten has served as a consultant or advisor to the U.S. Departments of Commerce, Defense, Homeland Security, and Justice. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He holds a B.S. with honors from the California Institute of Technology, and an M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Washington.
