Ivan Zapata

Born and raised in Houston, Ivan has more than 15 years of experience in Houston’s construction and real-estate sectors.

Prior to joining TCSD, Ivan served as the Vice President of Acquisition & Development at the Houston Land Bank where he was responsible for the site selection, acquisition, and development of new single-family affordable housing. He also has extensive experience in commercial development with the Welcome Group, LLC., and multi-family and community development and revitalization with Avenue CDC. Prior to this work, he owned a Houston-based general contractor and permitting firm and was a construction project manager.

Ivan served in the U.S Marine Corps for five years, reaching the rank of Sergeant or E-5. He holds an MBA from the University of Houston and Bachelor of Arts degrees in Sociology and Economics from Rice University where he served as research assistant for the Kinder Institute’s Houston Area Survey.
