Bernard Kaufhold

Bernard Kaufhold's work experience includes various roles in different companies. Bernard began their career as an Investment Director at Aquila Energy Finance and Trading Limited, a European subsidiary of a US-based multinational energy merchant. From there, they worked as a Partner in Corporate Finance at Europa Partners LLP, where they provided M&A, debt, and equity fundraising advice to corporations, private equity/hedge funds, and governments.

Bernard then served as the Finance and Investments Director at Bilfinger Asset Management, an infrastructure investment subsidiary of a global construction and engineering conglomerate. Following that, they became the Corporate Development Director at Cory Environmental, a leading UK environmental and renewable energy firm.

After leaving Cory Environmental, Kaufhold founded their own company called Re-imagine Group. Bernard also became a Non-Executive Director at Pure Science Limited, a group holding company that includes Sense Worldwide Incorporated.

In 2015, Kaufhold took on the role of Director at Pearlstone Energy Limited, a tech start-up/scale-up providing power supply flexibility services to the National Grid and markets. Bernard also joined the British Hydropower Association as a Non-Executive Director, where they promoted hydroelectric power generation and lobbied the government and other agencies for effective policy development.

Additionally, Kaufhold served as a Member of the Advisory Board at POWER-GEN Europe and Renewable Energy World Europe, an annual major exhibition and conference dedicated to the European electricity sector.

In their most recent role, Kaufhold became the Chief Financial Officer at Sense Worldwide, a London-based co-creation consultancy that started one of the earliest web-based communities, specializing in co-creation and Extreme User Research.

Throughout their career, Kaufhold has focused on renewable energy, sustainability, energy efficiency, and innovation in the power sector, leveraging their expertise in finance and investments.

Bernard Kaufhold holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from UNSW. Bernard also has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Bath. In terms of additional certifications, Bernard obtained the Yachtmaster Ocean certification from the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) in September 2016. Bernard also has certifications from the Royal Ocean Racing Club and completed a Trans Atlantic journey from La Rochelle, France, to St Thomas in the US Virgin Islands in 2020.
