Alfonso Vargas has a diverse work experience. Alfonso started their career as a Resident at Albany Medical Center from 2001 to 2003. Alfonso then joined the United States Air Force as an Officer from 2001 to 2011. In 2004, they were a Neonatology Fellow at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. In 2011, they became a Neonatologist with Pediatrix Medical Group practice at St. Joseph's Women's Hospital in Tampa, FL. Alfonso also served as the Medical Director of the Whole Body Cooling Program. From 2016 to present, they have been a Member of the Board of Directors at High Risk Hope, Inc. In 2020, they joined St. Joseph's Women's Hospital as the Associate Medical Director - NICU until 2022. Currently, they hold the position of Practice Medical Director at Pediatrix Medical Group.
Alfonso Vargas attended Loyola University New Orleans from 1993 to 1996, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology Pre-Med. Alfonso then enrolled at Flinders University from 1997 to 2000 and obtained a BM BS degree in Medicine.
