Bernadette Smith

Bernadette Smith serves as the Superintendent of Innovation & International Programs at Peel District School Board since January 2022. Prior to this role, Bernadette held several leadership positions at York Region District School Board, including Principal and Regional Coordinating Principal for the Elementary Virtual School. Experience also includes roles as Course Director and Developer with Ontario Principals' Council and Education Officer at the Ontario Ministry of Education. Bernadette’s early career featured positions such as Course Director/VP at Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, Project Leader for the Early Years Literacy Project, Literacy Coordinator, and Teacher at Toronto District School Board. Education credentials include a Master of Education in Curriculum, Teaching, & Learning from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, a Bachelor of Education focused on Primary/Junior from York University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Sociology minor, also from York University.
