Nalat Yulong has a diverse and varied work experience. They started their career as a Project Engineering Intern at Rudolph and Sletten in 2007. From 2008 to 2014, they worked at DPR Construction, initially as a Project Engineer and later as a Project Manager, overseeing various construction projects. In 2015, they interned at IDEO, where they were involved in redesigning tef seed row planters for the Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Agency. In 2014 and 2015, they pursued a graduate program at Northwestern University focused on Design Innovation. Their roles at Northwestern University included training engineers in human-centered design and innovation processes. From 2016 to 2023, they held multiple roles at Peer Insight, including Design Strategist, Sr Research Architect, Entrepreneur in Residence, and Sr Director. Since 2021, Nalat has also been working as an Entrepreneur in Residence at PX Venture Studio.
Nalat Yulong completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, from 2004 to 2008. Later, they pursued a Master's Degree in Engineering Design and Innovation from Northwestern University from 2014 to 2015. In addition to their degrees, Nalat obtained certifications as a Professional Engineer from the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) in 2012 and as a LEED AP from the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) in 2009.
