Edgar Fajardo Hernandez

Edgar Fajardo Hernandez has a strong background in data solutions engineering, high-throughput computing, and software development. Edgar is currently working as a Senior Data Solutions Engineer - AI and Data Practices at Penguin Computing, where they are responsible for designing and presenting benchmarks for new storage architectures. Prior to that, they worked at the San Diego Supercomputer Center as a High Throughput Computing and Data Research Engineer, where they led a project to create and administer a content delivery network for science using Kubernetes and Xrootd data caches. Edgar also worked at the University of California, San Diego as an OSG Software Team Developer, ensuring the quality and usability of the software stack for researchers and computing centers globally.

Earlier in their career, Edgar worked at CERN as a Workflow Team Leader, running and troubleshooting parallel jobs at different computing centers for the CMS experiment. Edgar also gained experience as a Research Intern at CEA, focusing on the visualization of numerical simulations of Saturn's rings. Edgar's work experience also includes serving as a Teacher's Assistant at Universidad de los Andes and completing an internship at Brookhaven National Laboratory, where they worked on implementing monitoring software for the ATLAS experiment.

Edgar Fajardo Hernandez holds a Master of Computer Science, Mathematics, and Engineering degree from UC San Diego, which they completed in 2020. Prior to that, they obtained two Bachelor's degrees from Universidad de Los Andes, one in Computer Science and the other in Mathematics, between 2004 and 2011. Additionally, Edgar has obtained certifications in "Introduction to AI in the Data Center" from NVIDIA in March 2021, and "Modern Big Data Analysis with SQL Specialization" from Coursera, although the specific month and year of completion for the latter certification are not available.
