Michael Onusko

Michael Onusko has extensive experience in healthcare compliance and privacy. Michael currently works as the Director of Compliance at Penn Highlands Healthcare. Before joining Penn Highlands Healthcare, Michael worked as an Independent Consultant, providing healthcare compliance and HIPAA privacy consulting services. Prior to that, they served as the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer at Excela Health. Michael has also held positions as the Director of Compliance at WVU Medicine, the Senior Vice President System Compliance Officer at Logan Health, and the Regional Director of Compliance at RCCH HealthCare Partners. Michael's earlier experience includes roles such as the Director of Ethics and Compliance/Privacy Officer at Community Medical Center RCCH Healthcare Partners and the Senior Director of Emergency, Outpatient, and Environmental Services/Ethics and Compliance Officer at Southwest Regional Medical Center RCCH Healthcare Partners. Before transitioning to the healthcare industry, Michael served in the US Navy for almost 30 years, retiring at the rank of HMC(FMF) USN. Michael also worked as the PreHospital Care Coordinator at Uniontown Hospital.

Michael Onusko earned 200 college credits for education/experience while serving in the US Navy from 1980 to 2008. Michael also obtained an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Biology, General from American University from 1982 to 1983. In addition, they completed their HM-A degree in Health Care from the Naval School of Health Sciences from 1980 to 1981. Michael Onusko has also obtained certifications in Healthcare Compliance, including Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) from the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) in February 2017 and Compliance Certification Board (CCB), SCCE & HCCA from the Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) institution in the same month and year.
