John Messner

Charles And Elinor Matts Professor Of Architectural Engineering

John Messner is a distinguished academic and professional in the field of architectural engineering. Currently, John serves as the Charles and Elinor Matts Professor of Architectural Engineering at Penn State University, with a career at the institution extending back to January 2001, encompassing roles from Assistant Professor to Professor. In addition to academic responsibilities, John holds leadership positions at the National Institute of Building Sciences as Chair of the National BIM Standard - US Planning Committee and the Building Information Management (BIM) Council. Previously, John was Vice Chair of the buildingSMART alliance Board from 2015 to 2017 and worked as a Project Manager at The Clark Construction Group, Inc. from 1996 to 2000. John earned a PhD in Architectural Engineering with a minor in International Business, as well as a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering from Penn State University.
