Claire McNamara has had an extensive career in knowledge management and litigation within the legal industry. Claire currently holds the position of Partner - Director of Knowledge and Learning at Penningtons Manches Cooper LLP since 2023. Prior to this, they were Head of Knowledge Management at Farrer & Co from 2020 to 2023, where they were responsible for the firm's knowledge strategy and led a team of Knowledge Lawyers. Before that, they served as the Director of Knowledge Management at HFW from 2015 to 2020, where they established and developed the KM function globally. From 2010 to 2015, they worked at Berwin Leighton Paisner as Head of Disputes Know How, focusing on knowledge management and training strategy for multiple groups within the firm. Claire McNamara completed their education in a sequential manner. Claire attended the University of Liverpool from 1991 to 1994, where they obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree. Following this, they enrolled at the College of Law in London from 1996 to 1997 and completed the Legal Practice Course.

Aside from their formal education, Claire McNamara also received additional certifications. In May 2020, they obtained the Change Management Registered Practitioner certification from APMG International. Additionally, in April 2020, they achieved the AMPG Change Management certification from the same institution.
