James Marcogliese has a diverse work experience in the field of data engineering and software development. James recently worked at Penny AI as a Data Engineer, where they designed and implemented a data lake house for analytics and big data applications, resulting in a significant increase in query performance and reduction in operational costs. Prior to that, James served as a Data Engineer at Madgex, where they developed ETL data lake for internal reporting, productionized scalable ML pipelines, and designed and trained ML NLP classifiers. James also worked as a Junior Data Engineer, where they designed and implemented micro-services within AWS and supported an Elasticsearch-based analytics platform. James started their career at Mohawk College iDeaWORKS as a Software Developer, where they spearheaded software quality assurance testing and designed and implemented a backend database. James also gained experience as a Control Systems Designer at Callisto Integration, where they designed and developed HMI and SCADA applications. Additionally, James has worked as a Systems Administrator Co-op at Callisto Integration and as a co-op at RBC in roles such as Junior Analyst and Technical Systems Analyst.
James Marcogliese obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Data Science and Analytics from Ryerson University, where they studied from 2021 to 2023. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree in Software Engineering from McMaster University and a Certificate in Business Management from Mohawk College, both of which they attended from 2015 to 2017. Before pursuing their bachelor's degree, James studied Computer Engineering Technology at Sheridan College from 2011 to 2014, where they earned an Advanced Diploma in Technology (AdvDip.Tech).
In addition to their educational achievements, James has obtained several certifications. In August 2022, they received the Confluence Fundamentals Badge and the Jira Fundamentals Badge from Atlassian. In October 2019, they obtained the Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED certification from St. John Ambulance Canada | Ambulance Saint-Jean. Additionally, in November 2019, they acquired the Mental Health First Aid Basic certification from the Mental Health Commission of Canada.
