Craig Shepherd has a diverse work experience in various organizations. Craig started their career as an Accounting Officer at Blacktown City Council in 1986 and later moved to Camden Council as a Financial Accounting Officer. In 1995, they joined Parramatta City Council as a Business Coordinator where they played a key role in budget submissions, expenditure monitoring, and implementation of the council's computer system. From 2007 to 2015, Craig worked at WaterNSW/Sydney Catchment Authority as a Business Planning and Reporting Officer, where they successfully coordinated the development of annual Business Plans and Divisional Plans. In 2016, they joined the Department of Family and Community Services (NSW) as a Corporate Planner, focusing on developing standardized business planning and reporting templates. Currently, Craig is working at Penrith City Council as the Corporate Planning and Performance Lead, responsible for developing and maintaining business planning and performance measurement frameworks.

Craig Shepherd graduated from Charles Sturt University in 2001, where they earned a Bachelor of Business degree with a focus on Public Administration and Local Government. In 2023, they also obtained a Lean Six Sigma GREEN BELT (Theory Exam) certification from APMG International.
