Joe Schmetzer has a wealth of experience in software engineering and development. In 2005, they began their career as a Software Consultant at Exubero Solutions. Joe then moved on to SPSS in 2006, where they worked as a Software Engineer on SPSS Clementine, a powerful Data Mining and Predictive Analysis tool. Later in 2006, they took on the role of Software Engineer at Tudor Investment Corporation, where they maintained and enhanced a front end trading system written in Delphi and an automated reconciliation tool written in Java. In 2009, Joe moved to Bank of America, where they were a Technical Architect and Agile Consultant. In 2010, they began working at TIM Group (Global) as a Senior Software Developer, where their responsibilities spanned requirements specification, design and architecture, coding, testing and build infrastructure. From 2015 to 2019, Joe was involved with the Extreme Tuesday Club (XTC) as a Community Organizer and also held the role of Head of Engineering at QA Chef from 2019 to 2020. Most recently, Joe has been the Managing Engineer, R&D at Instaclustr since 2020, and is currently the Software Engineering Manager at Penten since 2022.

Joe Schmetzer attended St Joseph's College, Hunters Hill, Sydney from 1989 to 1990. Joe then went on to Macquarie University from 1991 to 1993, where they earned a BEc in Actuarial Studies. In 2017, Joe completed a Specialisation in Culture-Driven Team Building from Coursera. Joe also obtained four certifications from Coursera in 2017: Creating a Team Culture of Continuous Learning, Optimizing Diversity on Teams, Building High-Performing Teams, and The Power of Team Culture.
