Matthew Macia has accumulated significant experience in the financial industry over the years. Matthew started their career in 1991 as a Marketing Product Manager at Providian Financial. Matthew then joined HSBC as a Senior Risk Manager in 1996. In 2003, Matthew joined Wachovia, A Wells Fargo Company, where they served as SVP - Risk Management for almost a decade. In 2012, they transitioned to Bank of America as SVP - Deposit, Consumer and Small Business Risk Management. Matthew later joined TIAA in 2014 as Bank Chief Risk Officer and subsequently worked as Chief Risk Officer (CRO) at Bank of the Sierra from 2019 to 2022. More recently, Matthew was the Director of Risk Management at Edward Jones before they took on the role of Chief Risk Officer (CRO) at Peoples Bank in 2023.
Matthew Macia earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from California State University, Fresno, from 1986 to 1991. Matthew then pursued a PhD in Economics at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) from 2003 to 2008 as a PhD candidate. In terms of additional certifications, Matthew completed a course in "Diversity and Inclusion for Organizational Excellence" at Stanford University Graduate School of Business, with the year of completion unspecified. Matthew also obtained a certification in "Business, International Relations and the Political Economy" from LSE in 2018.
