Emma Hemus has had a varied work experience over the past nine years. In 2012, they worked as a Shop Assistant at Springmill Bread Co. In 2014, they were a Research Assistant at both Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne). At the same time, they were an Academic Tutor at Prep Zone. In 2015, they were a Research Assistant at McGill University. In 2016, they became an Office Manager at Organizing Solutions, Inc. In 2019, they were a Machine Learning Software Engineer at Intelligent Ultrasound and a Research and Development Scientist at Bioepic. Currently, they are a Machine Learning Engineer at Perceptual Robotics.

Emma Hemus obtained their High School Diploma from The Madeira School in 2012. Emma then attended McGill University from 2012 to 2017, where they earned their Bachelor of Engineering with a double major in Chemical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. In 2014, they participated in an exchange program at Nanyang Technological University Singapore, where they studied Chemical Engineering. In 2017, they completed their MSc in Biomedical Engineering at Imperial College London. In October 2015, they obtained a First Responder certification from the Canadian Red Cross.
