Don Bielen

Principal at Perkins & Co

Whether Don is contemplating an intricate knot garden for his meticulous NW Portland yard, crisscrossing the country in search of the ultimate Cadillac margarita, or helping clients create solid business transition and succession plans, you can be certain he has done his homework – and has done it to perfection.

A natural born leader with a knack for details and a mind for business, Don was raised in central Montana. As a high school quarterback, he decided to pursue business as a backup plan to his sports career. To his surprise, he liked it so much that he eventually earned an MBA and CFP®. A lifelong sports aficionado, Don is equally at home racing down the powdery slopes of Mt. Hood as he is playing a friendly game of basketball. When he slows down, Don enjoys a great glass of German beer or a good book – especially one that tells the story of how a business got its start.

You could say that Don’s diligence, his multifaceted business skills and his reverence for the history of a business make him the ultimate “quarterback” for business transition and succession planning at Perkins.
