Jay Innes has a diverse work experience spanning various industries, roles, and responsibilities. They began their career as a Writer for The Cambridge Reporter in 1989. Later, they worked as a Producer for Stornoway Productions, where they produced documentaries, conducted interviews, and authored a book. In 2004, they joined Breakout Educational Network as Vice-President and Senior Producer, co-creating and producing Canadian politics-focused shows and campaign events. In 2009, Jay Innes started their own business, Jay Innes Marketing and Communications, where they provided marketing and communication expertise. They then worked as the Director of Business Development for Privatis Technology Corporation, where they established connections within the privacy and investment sectors. In 2014, they became the Marketing Manager for Simutech Multimedia Inc., a company specializing in simulation-based electrical troubleshooting training software programs. Jay Innes's most recent role is as the Director of Communications for Perley Health, where they lead internal and external communications, crisis communication strategies, and branding initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout their career, Jay Innes has demonstrated strong leadership skills and a commitment to raising awareness and engagement through various speaking engagements and charity events.

Jay Innes has a strong educational background in journalism and liberal arts and sciences. Jay obtained a Bachelor's degree in liberal arts and sciences with a focus on English from Dalhousie University, a well-known university, between the years 1984 and 1988. Jay pursued further education and completed their Master of Journalism degree at Carleton University, between the years 1992 and 1995, specializing in the field of journalism.
