Virden Spicer, P.E.

Virden Spicer, P.E. has a range of work experience in the environmental engineering field. From 2015 to the present, they have been an Environmental Engineer for Perma-Fix, where they support remediation activities for sites contaminated with radiological and chemical waste. Virden also assists with business proposals and performs verification and validation of data.

From 2013 to 2015, Spicer worked as a Client Specialist III/Senior Engineer for Pro2Serve Business Solutions. In this role, they provided support to the Department of Energy (DOE) in evaluating and approving regulatory documents, permits, and environmental compliance. Virden also provided programmatic support for DOE's Environmental Management mission.

From 2008 to 2011, as a Project Manager/Engineer III at Professional Project Services (Pro2Serve), Spicer analyzed bids and proposals for DOE contracts. Virden managed the development of scope, work breakdown structure, and reports for system upgrades and stabilization projects.

Spicer served as a Project Manager at Safety and Ecology Corporation from 2003 to 2008. In this position, they managed the collection and analysis of samples, radiological surveys, and waste profiles for a DOE project involving excess materials removal.

From 1993 to 2003, Spicer worked at Bechtel as a Site Manager/Environmental Engineer. Virden authored various documents and reports related to remedial action plans and performed multimedia sampling and data analysis for FUSRAP sites.

In 1992, Spicer was an Environmental Specialist at Florida Steel Corporation, where they managed environmental sampling, data analysis, and reporting for a steel production facility.

From 1987 to 1992, they were an Environmental Engineer at Bechtel National, Inc. Spicer worked on FUSRAP projects, authored technical specifications, and assisted with environmental reports. Virden also contributed to the Central Interstate Compact project.

Spicer began their career as an Environmental Engineer at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region IV from 1986 to 1987. Their responsibilities included producing NPDES permits, soliciting public comment, and evaluating water treatment facilities for permit compliance.

Virden Spicer, P.E. holds a Master's degree in Civil Engineering (Environmental) from Tennessee Technological University, which was obtained from 1984 to 1986. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the same university, starting in 1982 until 1984. Their education also includes a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Lincoln Memorial University, which they earned from 1979 to 1981.

In addition to their formal education, Virden Spicer has obtained several professional certifications. Virden is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Michigan, having received this certification in October 2007. Virden is also a licensed Professional Engineer in the States of Tennessee and South Carolina, having obtained these certifications in April 1995 and June 2007, respectively.
