Joel Gomez is a Middle School Science Teacher at Greenwood Independent School District since August 2019. Joel also works as a Teacher at Midland Independent School Dst since January 2018. Joel serves as a Care Coordinator at Permian Basin Community Centers and as an Assistant Pastor at Reach Apostolic Community Church, where Joel is also the Children's Pastor and Worship Minister. With a Bachelor's degree in Communication and a double major in Psychology from the University of Texas Permian Basin, Joel also holds an Associate's degree in Theology/Theological Studies from International Apostolic Bible College. Joel has extensive experience in construction as a Supervisor at Alpha General Construction from May 2006 to August 2019.
PermiaCare (formerly Permian Basin Community Centers, MHMR)
PermiaCare is the local authority for mental health and intellectual disability services. PermiaCare also provides Early Childhood Intervention services as well as chemical dependency services. Service fees are based on a sliding scale. PermiaCare is a public entity that is governed by a local Board of Trustees. The center was formed in 1969 by the city of Midland. More counties were added as years went on. Currently, PermiaCare has about 300 employees and a budget of over 16 million dollars. Private insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid are accepted. The Texas Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) contracts for mental health, chemical dependency services and intellectual and developmental disability services, and the Texas Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) contracts for Early Childhood Intervention services, allowing the implementation of a sliding fee scale, which lowers the cost to the consumer.
