Ron Tykoski

Ron Tykoski has a comprehensive work experience in the field of paleontology. Ron started their career at the University of Michigan as a Student Technician at the Museum of Paleontology and later became a Museum Docent at the Museum of Natural History. At the University of Texas at Austin, they worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Graduate Research Assistant in the Department of Geological Sciences, where they also assisted in fossil preparation at the Vertebrate Paleontology Laboratory. Ron then joined The University of Texas at Austin as a Research Assistant.

From 2005 onwards, Ron Tykoski has been associated with the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. During their tenure at the museum, they held multiple roles including Fossil Preparator, Director of Paleontology Lab, Director of Paleontology, and currently serves as the Vice President of Science & Curator of Vertebrate Paleontology. In their various positions, they have been responsible for coordinating fossil preparation work, leading research programs, investigating fossil finds, overseeing collections, and engaging in collections-based research. Ron has also managed teams of professionals and volunteers and has been involved in public engagement through exhibit interpretation and tours.

Ron Tykoski received their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Geology from the University of Michigan in 1995. Ron then pursued a Master of Science (MS) in Geology (Paleontology) from The University of Texas at Austin, completing it in 1998. Subsequently, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Geology (Paleontology) from The University of Texas at Austin in 2005.
