Claire Berman has worked in the field of volunteer and refugee engagement for over ten years. Claire is currently the Member & Volunteer Support Coordinator at Pet Partners, where they oversee the organization's volunteer program and helps to ensure that volunteers have a positive experience. Claire has also worked with Clear Blue Sea and Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo, where they helped to develop and grow sustainable processes and practices in order to facilitate the best possible relations between volunteers and refugees. In their previous role as Volunteer and Refugee Engagement AmeriCorps VISTA at Catholic Community Services of Utah, Claire developed and delivered staff training for cohesive internal messaging on volunteer programs, including a multi-lingual mission activation activity. Claire also partnered with local agencies to increase demographic representation amongst volunteers to benefit refugee clients, and established policies to ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion in volunteer programs. In addition, Claire researched over a dozen volunteer management systems and collaborated with company partner to customize software platform for refugee resettlement volunteers’ needs. Claire also developed, edited, and delivered two presentations for executive staff, securing additional funding for volunteer programs.
Claire Berman has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from American University and a certification from the Utah Nonprofits Association in Credential in Volunteer Management. Claire also has a certification from the International TEFL Academy in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) and a certification from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing in Mental Health First Aid.
