Peter McVerry has been working in the area of social housing and inclusion for over 40 years. Peter is the founder and current secretary of the Peter McVerry Trust, which provides housing and support services to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Ireland.
Before their current role, Peter held various positions with organisations such as Kildare County Council Housing SPC, Dublin City Housing SPC, and the Irish Council for Social Housing. In 2000, they became the director of BOND - Blanchardstown Offenders for New Directions - an educational and therapeutic day service for young people with criminal justice issues.
Throughout their career, Peter has been committed to improving the lives of vulnerable people and tackling the issue of homelessness. Peter has been recognised for their work with several awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Irish Housing Association in 2019.
