Jorge Reynaldo Alméstar Mauricio

Jorge Reynaldo Alméstar Mauricio is the current Talara Refinery Modernization Project Manager at Petroperu. Jorge has over 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, including 10 years in refining. Jorge began their career with PETROPERU in 1995 as a Process Engineer, moving up to General Manager of the Refinery in 2017. In between, they served as the Project Manager of the new Talara Refinery from 2015-2017.

The new Talara Refinery was a 95kbpd, deep conversion refinery type with an NC Index of 7.8. The project had a USD 5b investment, and involved ExxonMobil, Axens, UOP, and Haldor Topsoe licensors. The refinery had 16 process units, including Distillation, Diesel and Nafta Desulfurization, Catalytic Reformer RCA, Fluidized Catalytic Cracking FCC, LPG treatment, Flexicoker FCK, etc. Additionally, there were 5 service units: Hydrogen, Sulfur Acid production, sea water systems (inlet, demineralization, treatment, disposal, etc.), steam and power energy system, including 100 MW power back up system.

The new refinery also included additional crude oil and fuel storage tanks capacity, an additional new fuel dispatch dock, and additional new facilities for warehouse, mechanical shop, administrative building, etc. The main contractors for the project were T

Jorge Reynaldo Alméstar Mauricio is an engineer with a mechanical electrical engineering degree from Universidad de Piura. Jorge also has a diploma in project management from Universidad de Piura and is an inspector specializing in welding from Pontificia Universidad Catolica Peru.
