Henry Kenchington

Hank Kenchington possesses extensive experience in cybersecurity and advanced energy technologies. As a Senior Fellow at the Hume Center for National Security and Technology at Virginia Tech from April 2018 to December 2018, Hank contributed to the Commonwealth Cybersecurity Initiative, focusing on cyber-physical systems security. Prior to this, in their role as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Cybersecurity and Emerging Threats R&D at the US Department of Energy from January 2016 to April 2018, Hank led national initiatives to enhance cybersecurity across energy infrastructures and collaborated with various governmental bodies to shape national policy. From January 2007 to January 2016, as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Advanced Power Grid Technologies, Hank oversaw a $3.4 billion smart grid investment program that successfully modernized the US electric power grid and significantly improved system reliability. Hank's educational background includes a Master's in Engineering and Nuclear from Virginia Tech and additional Master's degrees in Engineering Management with a focus on Strategic Management of Technology and Innovation from The George Washington University.
