CEO & Co-Founder at Phantom AI

Hyunggi is the CEO & Co-Founder at Phantom AI. Hyunggi was previously a Senior Control Engineer: Environmental Modeling & Computer Vision at Tesla Motors from June 2014 to December 2016 where they worked on Autopilot R&D. Prior to that, they were a PhD student at Carnegie Mellon University from August 2010 to May 2014 where they worked on a holistic approach to moving object detection and tracking for autonomous driving under supervision of Prof. Vijayakumar and Prof. Rajkumar. Their specialty is vision-based object detection (specifically deformable part-based model with HOG features) and multi-sensor fusion (radar, LIDAR, and camera) for multi-object tracking. Hyunggi has acquired skills in mobile robotics theory (SLAM and MOT), detection and estimation theory, linear control theory, convex optimization theory, machine learning, and has hands-on experience with multiple sensors (radar, LIDAR, and camera). Hyunggi has also published 5 proceedings/3 journals.

Hyunggi's educational career has spanned several different fields, including robotics, autonomous driving, and control and measurement. Hyunggi has a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University in autonomous driving, and a Master of Science from the same school in robotics. Hyunggi also has a Master of Science from Yonsei University in localization in wireless sensor networks, and a Bachelor of Science from Sun Moon University in control and measurement.
