Senior Principal Scientist Drug Discovery at Pharmacelera

Manel Lopez Martinez has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of computational chemistry and drug discovery. Manel started their career at Almirall in 1992, where they worked as an Expert Scientist in Drug Discovery Molecular Modelling for over 22 years. During their tenure, they achieved significant accomplishments such as designing and implementing the first UNIX/LINUX cluster for drug design at Almirall and licensing the Antihistaminic Ebastine to Dainippon. Manel also contributed to the field through the design and implementation of the Insilico Properties Database. In 2014, Manel co-founded Pharmacelera and served as a Scientific Advisor. Since 2015, they have held the position of Head of Computational Chemistry at AB Science.

Manel Lopez Martinez completed their education in the field of pharmacy and chemistry. Manel first obtained a Licenciado degree in Farmacia from Universitat de Barcelona, from 1982 to 1987. Manel then pursued a Master's degree in Organic Chemistry at the University of Barcelona, from 1988 to 1990. Lastly, they earned a Doctorate degree in Pharmacy with a specialization in Medicinal chemistry and Molecular modelling from Universitat de Barcelona, completing their studies from 1990 to 1993.
