Michael Johnson

Michael Johnson is an experienced healthcare executive currently serving as the Director of Strategy, Policy and Performance at PHARMAC since September 2017. Prior to this, Michael held various senior roles at the Ministry of Health New Zealand from March 2008 to August 2017, including Senior Health Advisor and Director of Planning and Analysis, where responsibilities encompassed strategic health service planning and policy guidance. Earlier in Michael's career, positions included Director of Clinical Services and Community Health Partnership General Manager at NHS Shetland, overseeing clinical services and the establishment of community health partnerships. Michael holds a BA in Business Studies from Edinburgh Napier University and has extensive expertise in health system strategy, policy development, and operational management.
