Tracy Smith has been in the technology industry since 1992. Tracy started their career as a LAN Administrator at World Access, Inc., where they were responsible for help desk requests, telephone switch programming, ACD monitoring, and reporting. Tracy then moved to American Management Systems as a Network Integration Manager, where they managed and oversaw 25+ servers. In 1997, they joined Dow Lohnes PLLC as a Sr. Systems Analyst, responsible for LAN Administration and development. Tracy then went on to Vivendi Universal as a Sr. Web Developer, where they worked on Prizecentral.com, Flipside.com, and VirtualVegas. In 2001, they joined TCS Technologies, LLC as a Sr. Web Developer, working independently to develop websites for small start-ups and credit unions. In 2002, they joined Northern Virginia Family Service as both the Finance & Administration Manager and Information Technology Coordinator. Tracy then moved to 12 Seconds as the Lead Developer, taking the website from concept to implementation. In 2008, they founded Alpha Geek Tech, LLC, providing technology and web consulting for small businesses and large organizations. Finally, they joined Phase2 in 2010, where they held the roles of Director of Business Technology, Senior Project Manager, Project Manager, and Senior Developer.

Tracy Smith's education history includes a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration / Computer Information Systems from Wingate University, a Business Administration program from George Mason University, and a High School diploma from HB Woodlawn. Tracy also holds certifications from HITRUST, Trailhead by Salesforce, Scrum Alliance, Salesforce Trailhead, Scrum.org, Google Cloud | G Suite, and HIPAATraining.com, which were obtained in 2022, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2017, 2019, and 2019 respectively.
