Philipp Lottes

Philipp Lottes is the Founder and CEO of Pheno-Inspect GmbH, a position held since January 2020. Prior to this, Philipp worked at the University of Bonn in the IGG Photogrammetry and Robotics Lab as a Postdoc from November 2015 to December 2022, focusing on research in unsupervised Machine Learning, particularly in developing plant classification systems for agricultural robots. Philipp contributed to integrating task- and environment-specific prior knowledge into machine learning models for robust crop-weed detection using both deep learning and traditional methods. Earlier roles include serving as a Student Assistant in the IPB Photogrammetry Lab, where data acquisition and system calibration for robotic multi-sensor systems were developed, and as a Surveying Engineer at Marx Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH. Philipp holds a Doktor-Ingenieur (Dr.-Ing) in Machine Learning, Computer Vision, and Robotics, a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Geodesy and Geoinformation, and a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Surveying Engineering, all from prestigious institutions, primarily the University of Bonn.
