Suman Damera

Suman Damera has a diverse work experience in the field of accessibility engineering and testing. They started their career at EnAble India in 2008 as a Software and Accessibility Tester, where they worked on web-based and desktop applications, collaborated with the technical team, and provided training on WCAG 2.0 guidelines. In 2012, they joined SAP Labs Pvt Ltd as an Accessibility Engineer, focusing on accessibility testing for various web portals, iOS and Android applications, and SAP Business By Design. Suman then moved to Deque Software Private Limited in 2014, initially as a Senior Accessibility Consultant and later as an Accessibility Team Lead. Their responsibilities included project delivery, estimating timelines, performing accessibility assessments, working with screen readers, documenting findings, providing technical guidance, and delivering accessibility trainings at conferences. Currently, Suman is a Senior Principal Accessibility Engineer at Phenom, where they continue to contribute their expertise in accessibility.

Suman Damera obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Open University in Hyderabad. Additionally, Suman has obtained various certifications related to web accessibility, including Certified Professional in Web Accessibility (CPWA), Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS), Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC), and IAAP Certified Professional in Web Accessibility (CPWA).
