Critical Care Medical Director at PHI Air Medical

Scott van Poppel has a diverse work experience in the medical field. Scott began their career at Maricopa Integrated Health System as an Internal Medicine Resident from August 2002 to May 2005. Scott then joined WAKE FOREST UNIVERSITY BAPTIST MEDICAL CENTER as a Critical Care Fellow from August 2008 to May 2010. In July 2010, they joined Envision Physician Services as a Critical Care Physician and later became the Critical Care Medical Director in August 2017. From July 2016 onwards, they also held the position of Critical Care Medical Director at PHI Air Medical. In January 2020, they joined Medical City Plano as the Vice Chief of Staff until December 2021, and subsequently became the Chief of Staff in January 2022.

Scott van Poppel completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology, General at Texas Lutheran University from 1994 to 1998. Scott then pursued a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at The University of Texas Medical Branch from 1998 to 2002.

In terms of certifications, they obtained an Internal Medicine certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in November 2015. Additionally, they earned a Neuro Critical Care certification from the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties in December 2013. Most recently, they obtained an Internal Medicine - Critical Care Medicine certification from the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) in September 2019.
