Alex Deffaa

Manager, Premium Services at Philadelphia 76ers

Alex Deffaa is the current Senior Premium Account Manager at the Philadelphia 76ers. Alex has also worked as an account executive at the Gazelle Group, a boutique sports marketing firm that represents sports leaders, produces tournaments, and consults on advertising and sponsorship initiatives for the college and high school sports industry.

At the Gazelle Group, Alex managed marketing campaigns for an email database of over 10,000 people and was also responsible for additional marketing functions, such as content for online, flyers, billboards, sign marquis, media, TV, print, and radio campaigns. Alex was also in charge of executing promotional activities and generating ticket sales for the 2011 Progressive CBE Classic. In addition, they developed marketing content and activities to target local college team sports fans and national college alumni groups to successfully boost attendance for the produced tournaments.

Under Alex's supervision, the Group Sales Team was able to generate incremental revenue through cold calling initiatives into assigned group categories, such as YMCAs, Boys and Girls Clubs, youth sports leagues, PAL leagues, Big Brother Big Sisters, youth groups, churches, performers and corporate HR departments.

Thanks to their hard work and dedication, Alex was able to identify, cultivate and acquire the first sponsorship sale for Gazelle within an allocated category since 2007 by targeting categories in corporate and small business industries: grocery stores, gas stations, food products companies, mailing services, snack purveyors and other consumer product and services firms. Alex was also successful in organizing game and venue operations for the 2011 College Basketball Invitational presented by Zebra Pen.

Alex Deffaa received a Master's degree in Sport Management from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and a Bachelor's degree in Communication and Media Studies from Goucher College.

Alex Deffaa works with Alexa Lee - Member Services Account Manager, Victoria Mbakwe - Member Services Account Manager, and Joe Rickards - Senior Member Services Account Manager. Their manager is Michael Drobnick, Senior Director, Member Services.
