Betsy Payne is an experienced professional in STEM education and environmental sciences with a focus on program management and educational enrichment for youth. Currently serving as the Manager of the Philadelphia STEM Ecosystem at the Philadelphia Education Fund, Betsy oversees multiple initiatives and projects that promote communication and engagement within the STEM community. Previous roles include managing the Women In Natural Sciences program at The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, where Betsy developed hands-on science lessons and provided academic support for high school girls. Earlier experiences range from educating at Camden Children's Garden to specialized consulting and supervisory roles with the US Forest Service and the Conservation Trust of Puerto Rico. Betsy Payne holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology from the University of West Florida.

Founded in 1985, PEF is a comprehensive provider of college and career advising services – serving students attending 6 of the City’s lowest graduation-rate high schools; consulting with schools on the creation of college-going cultures; awarding $600,000 in scholarship aid annually; operating the college access portal, www.PhillyGoes2College.org; and delivering career exposure programming to students and teachers and through its stewardship of the 400-member Philadelphia STEM Ecosystem and the Philadelphia STEM Equity Collective, a 10-year partnership with GSK.
