John Master

John Master is the current SVP, Legal & General Counsel at Philadelphia Flyers. John has over 18 years of experience in the legal and business fields.

Master began their career as an Executive VP & General Counsel for the Arena Football League. John was a member of the three-person Executive Management team and provided strategic business and legal leadership on all strategic decision-making for the League. During their time with the AFL, they were instrumental in the development and sale of expansion teams, as well as all existing team sales and relocations. John also participated in the formation of strategic direction that attracted new elite partners such as ESPN, NBC, EA Sports, Discover Card, and Russell Athletic. In addition, Master negotiated all League commercial partnerships and served as the Secretary of the League's Board of Directors.

After leaving the AFL, Master became a Business & Legal Consultant; General Counsel for Turnkey Sports & Entertainment. In this role, they provided legal, business development, and general business consulting services.

Most recently, Master has been with the Philadelphia Flyers organization since 2010. In their current role as SVP, Legal & General Counsel, they oversee all legal matters for the organization.

John Master earned their J.D. from Columbia Law School and their undergraduate degree from Georgetown University. John also attended St. Joseph's Prep.

John Master reports to Phil Weinberg, EVP, Administration, Chief Legal Counsel & Alternate Governor. Some direct reports include Betsy McGill - SVP, Legal & Deputy General Counsel, Laurie Kleinman - VP, Legal & Risk Management. John Master works with and Ryan Gillies - Senior Director, Finance and Business Technology.
