Digital Asset Librarian at Philadelphia Museum Of Art Inc

Daniel Shiman is a seasoned digital asset librarian with extensive experience in library and archival technologies. Currently serving as the Digital Asset Librarian at the Philadelphia Museum of Art since September 2024, Shiman also founded Little Danny's Records in July 2017, an online shop specializing in rare vintage vinyl records, utilizing a local Islandora installation for metadata management. Previously, as the Systems and Digital Librarian at the Library Company of Philadelphia, Shiman managed technological systems and collaborated on digital projects. Additional roles include data specialist and interim general manager at the Presidio County Underground Water Conservation District, technology specialist and archivist at the Chinati Foundation, and various positions at the University of Texas and MATRIX, focusing on digital preservation and metadata standards. Shiman holds a Master’s degree in Information Studies with a focus on Archives and Digital Technology from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor’s degree in Archaeological Studies and Anthropology from Oberlin College.
