Shamus McCarty

Shamus McCarty has a diverse work experience in various industries. Shamus started their career in 2009 as an Actor, collaborating with prestigious theater companies such as The Kimmel Center, Bristol Riverside Theatre, and others. In 2012, they took on the role of Managing Director at The Bearded Ladies Cabaret, followed by a position as Program Coordinator at the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance. In 2013, they worked as a Standardized Patient at the University of Pennsylvania, providing valuable assistance to medical students. Shamus also served as Company Manager at Flashpoint Theatre Company from 2011 to 2012. Their most recent role was as Artistic Associate and Casting Director at Shakespeare in Clark Park, where they contributed from 2016 to 2020. Throughout their career, Shamus has also been involved in teaching and directing, having worked as a Director/Actor/Teaching Artist at Philadelphia Young Playwrights since 2014. Additionally, they gained experience in event planning as a Meeting & Events Assistant at Saul Ewing LLP from 2011 to 2012.

Shamus McCarty pursued their education with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre from Dickinson College, which they completed between 2006 and 2010. Shamus then continued their academic journey at Boston University, where they pursued a Master of Fine Arts degree in Directing from 2020 to 2023.
