Laura Gerald

Governance Chair at Philanthropy Southeast

Ms. Laura Gerald is currently the Governance Chair at Philanthropy Southeast. Laura has a long and accomplished history in the medical field, most recently having served as the Market Medical Director at Evolent Health from February 2014 to June 2016. In this role, Ms. Gerald provided physician leadership for Evolent Health and was responsible for leading teams in developing and implementing clinical programs that transformed healthcare delivery. Additionally, they engaged physicians and healthcare executives in leadership development and change management.

Prior to their role at Evolent Health, Ms. Gerald served as the North Carolina State Health Director from February 2012 to August 2013. In this role, they were responsible for providing clinical strategic direction in population health management programs, including quality improvement measurement and reporting, network and credentialing of specialist groups, and clinical leadership of care advising.

Before their role as State Health Director, Ms. Gerald served as the Senior Advisor for Community Care Coordination at the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services from August 2011 to February 2012. In this role, they advised on statewide initiatives related to care coordination and community care for vulnerable populations.

Ms. Gerald has dedicated their career to improving the health of their community and the nation as a whole. Laura is a skilled leader with a proven track record of success in transforming healthcare delivery systems.

Laura Gerald holds a Master of Public Health from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health with a concentration in Health Care Management/Policy, a Doctor of Medicine from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Harvard University. Laura is certified by the North Carolina Medical Board as a Licensed Physician and by the AMERICAN BOARD OF PEDIATRICS as a Pediatric Board Certified physician.
