Carsten Sauerland started their education at Wethersfield High School, where they obtained a US high-school diploma in an unspecified year. Carsten then pursued their Bachelor's degree at the University of Mannheim from 1999 to 2004, majoring in Business Administration and Management, General. During their undergraduate studies, in the academic year 2002-2003, Sauerland attended the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and studied Strategic Management.
