Gloria Butler

Executive Director of Finance at Phoenix Union High School District

Gloria Butler joined Phoenix Union High School District as Division Manager over Payroll in July 2015. While in this role, she directed the implementation of an automated timekeeping system for nearly 4,000 district employees. She served in the manager role from 2015 to 2016, after which she served as Accounting & Payroll Director from 2016 to 2020. During this time, she played an instrumental role in the district’s transition to a new Enterprise Resource Planning system. She has currently served on Phoenix Union’s Executive team since July 2020 as the Executive Director of Finance, overseeing Purchasing, Budgeting, Payroll, Accounting, Book Store Operations, Food Services, and Warehouse.

Before joining Phoenix Union, Ms. Butler served as Financial Services Director for 10 years for Wilson Elementary School District. During this time, she gained vast experience in all areas related to Arizona School Finance. In addition to managing all finance departments, she also oversaw Food Services, Maintenance, and Operations as well as Transportation for the district.

A native of El Salvador, Central America, she and her family migrated to Cache County, Utah where she became a product of the public school system in that state. After high school, Ms. Butler moved to Arizona, where she obtained an Associate's Degree in Business from Chandler-Gilbert Community College and a Bachelor of Science from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.
