Scott Sawyer

Scott Sawyer is currently the Executive Director of HR at Saginaw Intermediate School District. Prior to that, they served as the Business Manager for Birch Run Area Schools, where they were responsible for managing the chart of accounts, negotiating collective bargaining agreements, supervising annual audits, creating and maintaining annual budgets, reporting to the Board of Education monthly, managing construction projects, generating annual debt levies for local townships, completing all district-level state reporting, and maintaining compliance for federal and state educational programming.

Before their time at Birch Run Area Schools, Sawyer worked as an adjunct instructor at Davenport University, teaching 100-level Pre-Agebra and College Algebra courses as well as up to 300-level Statistics courses. Scott also spent time as a student attorney at WMU Cooley Law School's Estate Planning Clinic, where they worked with clients to create estate planning documents like Wills, Trusts, and Medical and Durable Powers of Attorney. Additionally, Sawyer conducted Guardianship Reviews for Oakland County Probate Court.

Sawyer began their career in education as a teaching assistant at WMU Cooley Law School. In this role, they provided support to professors and helped students learn the material.

Scott Sawyer has a PhD in Educational Leadership and Administration from Western Michigan University. Scott also has an Accounting Certificate from Ashworth College, a Gerstacker Fellowship Program from Saginaw Valley State University, and a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School. Additionally, they have a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Scott'story and Mathematics from Alma College. Finally, they have certification from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate, National Lawyers Guild in Legal Observer, International Thought Leader Network in Happiness Advantage / Orange Frog Trained Facilitator, and US District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in Attorney And Counselor.
