Michael Woody

Michael Woody has a diverse work experience in the field of federal advocacy and government affairs. Michael is currently working at PhRMA as the Senior Vice President of Federal Advocacy. Prior to this, they held the role of Vice President of Federal Advocacy at the same company.

Before joining PhRMA, Michael worked at East End Group as a Partner. In this role, they developed policy and advocacy strategies for pharmaceutical and medical device companies. Michael had expertise in FDA-related drug and device policy, drug pricing and payment, Medicare, Medicaid, and 340B. Some of their current clients at the East End Group included Novartis, GlaxoSmithKline, Amazon, Bayer, Bavarian Nordic, Meso Scale Diagnostics, Seqirus, and PhRMA.

Michael also has experience working at the United States Senate and the U.S. House of Representatives. Michael served as a Professional Staff at the Senate HELP Committee under Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) and as a Legislative Assistant for Representatives Marion Berry (D-AR) and Mike McIntyre (D-NC).

Before their government service, Michael held the position of Senior Director, Federal Affairs at PhRMA. In this role, they led various advocacy efforts and managed relationships with key Senate committees and staff during negotiations over the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

Michael Woody received their Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on Finance and Strategy from NYU Stern School of Business between 2018 and 2020. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh from 1998 to 2001. Michael also holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree with Honors in History from Wake Forest University, where they studied History and Political Science from 1992 to 1996. Additionally, Michael Woody obtained a certification as a Private Pilot from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in 2013.
