Stefan Grossfurthner

CEO at PhycoWorks

Stefan Grossfurthner is the co-founder and CEO of PhycoWorks, a position held since June 2021, while simultaneously pursuing a PhD at the University of Cambridge focused on genetically engineering algae for industrial applications. Prior experience includes being a LD16 Cohort Member at Entrepreneur First, an intern at RebelBio assisting with operations and market research, and a team member in the iGEM Competition where Stefan contributed to a winning project on genetic circuits at Imperial College. Additionally, experience as a placement student at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew involved analyzing metabolic biomarkers in seeds, while an internship at CITAC Africa Ltd focused on energy sector data collection and forecasting model development. Educational background includes a PhD in Biotechnology from the University of Cambridge, a BSc in Biotechnology from Imperial College London, and a Foundation in Management course at the London School of Economics.
